This is the lens that normally comes in the kit.If you need a new Rebel, get the kit! We ended up paying more for it separately.What happened was my old camera quit working.We thought it was in the body, so we bought a new body. Nope.The lens was broken! So then we had to purchase a lens separately.This is a pretty basic / starter lens and it works great for general photos. I do a lot of animal photos, and it's worked fine.The next lens up cost more than the camera! So if you just need a basic lens, this does work, takes nice photos, and won't break the bank..
